Outdoor adventures to do in Nepal

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Flying can be rather dangerous in Nepal but it also also be very enjoyable. Capital city Kathmandu is surrounded with high mountains and you will have to fly between mountains to a different city within Nepal. Flying experiences for me in Nepal was one of the scariest but very exciting experience I have had so far in my life. Here are some activities you can do in Nepal.

For site seeing of Himalaya it is wise to catch a morning flight to get a clear view of the Mountains and the Landscape. Airlines such as Tara Air and Buddha Airways provide cheap flights to different destinations of Nepal. It gives you an opportunity to see different sides of Nepal including mountains, white river and green landscapes. It is vital to book and reconfirm your flight a few days ahead as local flights in Nepal can change at a moment’s notice. If you are travelling to a remote destination it is vital you should do this.

If you are looking to go to the range of Mount Everest, there are flights you will be able to catch or do a long journey through trekking and bus rides, local people go through bus but normally all tourists catch the plane. This gives you an opportunity to see the highest peak of the World. While you are enjoying becoming a passenger in these flights, there is also a place where you can learn to fly a plane. Flying your own plane is just that bit more exciting than becoming a passenger to enjoy these Mountains and Landscapes.

You will also be able to enjoy other outdoor activities such as trekking, paragliding, white river rafting and more. You will be able to enjoy all the above outdoor activities in a city called Pokhara. Pokhara is the second biggest city of Nepal after Kathmandu. Other than the activities there are other things you will be able to enjoy such as Wildlife in Chitwan, Highest Temple Manakamana, Ancient Palaces in Gorkha.

Montjuic magic fountains at Barcelona

If you are thinking about taking your other half for a romantic weekend this Valentines then I would recommend you to visit Barcelona. If you have visited Barcelona before and your hasn’t then this is a good opportunity to show them around Barcelona as you have already been there.

Barcelona is filled with culture and history, so for romantic getaway or normal holiday this is one of the best cities to be in. To travel to Barcelona from UK you will be able to find cheap flights through Ryan Air and Easy Jet. Once you reach Barcelona there would be many things for you to do for your weekend, to be honest there are so many things to see that you might not have enough time to visit all those places.

With Tibidabo Mountain at the back and a beautiful Mediterranean Sea at the bottom this is one of the ideal places for your romantic getaways. To view the Mountain you can take cable cars which goes up to the old military fort on the top of Montjuic hill and they also do water sportswhich might the thing you look for other than sight seeing.

There are other things you will be able to do in Barcelona. You can catch a tour bus which travels around the city to view the beautiful Antonio Gaudi’s architecture, these buildings are scattered all around the city. Another is the famous long street of Las Ramblas, this is not just a straight road as you get to see so much in this street. Another must see place is gothic quarter for gothic cathedral.

My favorite romantic spot in Barcelona is Montjuic where there is a beautiful water fountain, the video is attached in this post.. It is known as the magical fountain of Montjuic. You will see people from different culture and country in this spot relaxing and enjoying the beautiful view with a smile on their faces. This is the exact spot where I met my other half and we try and make time to visit this place every year to recollect and remember the sweet memories of our first meeting.

There is also other things you could get such as flying experiences as long as they are not afraid of the height. It can be anything from ballooning, aerobatic flights, microlight flights, helicopters, flight simulators or even get them their first flying lesson. You can even join in to enjoy this experience with your partner it doesn’t really have to be him or her having all the fun.

These are just two examples of gift experience you can give to someone you love. There are also other things you can look at such as water sports – scuba diving, water skiing, kayaking, white river rafting, kite board and powerboats. You can also look at skydiving, paintballing, bungee jumping and parachuting. There just so many things you can think of doing for this Valentines Day. Australia – the greatest outdoors

Sunday, November 15th, 2009

When it comes to naturally stunning destinations worlwide, Australia’s Mount Tamborine area ranks very highly and for good reason.

Located around 60 kilometres south of the state of Queensland’s capital city of Brisbane, Tamborine Mountain is a volcanic plateau set within Australia’s Gold Coast hinterland.

The area is the result of an outpouring of lava from nearby Mount Warning and this geological phenomenon created a plateau approximately 8 km long by 5 km wide that now sits 600 metres above sea level.

The many attractions of the Mount Tamborine area include beautiful views that can be enjoyed on both sides of the range and the many craft and antique shops, galleries, cafes and restaurants which attract thousands of tourists every season.

Tamborine Mountain is famous for its National Parks. The Tamborine National Park covers eleven square kilometres of the mountain’s plateau and foothills and its oldest section, the Witches Falls, was first declared in 1908, making it Queensland’s oldest National Park. Over the years, additional reserves have been declared & today Tamborine National Park comprises 13 sections of land.

So why should you – literally – ‘take a hike’? Well, first, the Tamborine National Park as a whole has much to offer walkers including sundappled picnic areas (many with BBQs), breath-taking lookouts and waterfalls, cliffs and gorges, sparkling rock pools and shady woodlands. The Park is also home to an astounding 85 percent of all fauna species and 65 percent of all flora species in the Gold Coast City area.

Now that they form part of Tamborine’s National Parks, these lush rainforest areas with Piccabeen palm groves, wet Eucalypt forests, sky scraping flooded gums and open areas of bracken and ferns, are all protected. This protection extends to cover its fauna too, including the rare Albert’s Lyrebird and one of the world’s largest skinks; the glossy, black and very generously proportioned Land Mullet.Richmond Birdwing Butterflies, whose males are a brilliant iridescent green and Noisy Pittas, birds that hop on the rainforest floor in search of leeches and snails, both migrate eachs eason to the park, making this a significant area in terms of conservation.

Many believe that the Witches Falls section of Tamborine’s National Park is one of the most captivating to walk. Its 3.1 km circuit begins from the picnic area on Main Western Road. This lawned rest area has electric barbecues, picnic tables, toilets and is surrounded by soaring eucalypts.

The Witches Falls Circuit snakes down a steep incline through closed-in forest into a rainforest area that features cycad groves. Cycads are the single most ancient plants on earth that still exist today and are known, through fossil findings, to have been present in the Permian era – over 200 million years ago – even before dinosaurs roamed the earth. Although once abundant across the globe, cycads are now greatly reduced in both numbers and distribution and much international attention is being drawn to protect these plants that are believed to be nearing extinction.

While en route to the waterfalls you will come across shimmering lagoons, palm groves and enormous strangler figs. After the rains, the lagoons fill with water and thrive with various species of frogs and insects. The Witches Falls waterfalls only flow after recent rain and can be viewed by taking a short 200m detour from the circuit to a lookout platform. The track then returns through the rainforest and ends behind the local cemetery.

For your own safety, walk only in daylight hours and wear sturdy shoes, a hat, protective clothing and sunscreen. Take along a mobile phone and drinking water as creek water may contain organisms that can cause illness. At a usual walking pace, you can expect 3km to take about an hour. If you are walking with young children however or if plan to take photographs or bird watch along the way, do allow extra time.

When it comes to Tamborine accomodation, the most spellbinding place to stay is at the Witches Falls Cottages , a retreat that consist of many private cottages tucked away in one of the Mountain’s most secluded and peaceful locations and just a few steps away from the Witches Falls’ circuit’s start point.

Camping In California – Make It A Fun Filled Adventure

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

Camping in California is very exciting. The attractions in California are like no other. California is known for its famous state and national parks. The local attractions have tourists keep coming back. When you are camping in California, you will create memories that will last a life time.

For the active individual, many of the campgrounds offer activities for all ages. You can go hiking, swimming, fishing, etc. Bring your family and friends and have an experience of a life time. If you just want to relax, enjoying the tranquility while relaxing can be joyous. California is known for its scenic beauty. Enjoy the weather and surroundings. Some of the most famous beaches are in California. Where ever you are at in California, the Pacific Ocean is never far away.

The wonderful thing about camping in California is that it is so diverse. The parks, the beaches, lakes, in the city, the beaches, – they are all fabulous where you can go camping. Best of all, most of the places have terrific accommodations.

Southern California is warm and sunny almost all year round. In the middle of November, don’t be too shocked at people wearing flip flops or going surfing. If you are camping at a coastal ground, you might come across wave lovers that won’t let a little cold weather stop them from doing what they love.

But if you are not up to that, you can always go to one of the famous deserts (like Palm Springs) and enjoy your time there. They are famous for their golf courses and sunny weather. You might find the deserts to be warmer. And the pools and Jacuzzis are kept warm.

The summer weather in southern California can reach triple digits. If you do not like scorching hot weather, take a trip up north where it is still sunny yet cool. The bay area weather around winter time is beautiful. It is sunny and slightly warm, but at night, it is pleasantly cool. Enjoy a fun-filled time there and be sure to visit some of the local attractions while you are there.

Renting an RV and finding a park is what most people tend to do when camping. The art of camping in modern times makes it more comfortable. Some people like to do it the old fashioned way and rough it. It seems nobody ever sleeps in tents anymore. We’ve become too spoiled.
