The Firefighters Battle For The Garage
Tuesday, July 6th, 2010When the flames were growing higher Jim knew that the alarm bells would be sounding soon. He just did not know how long it was going to be until they started to go off. Thankfully Jim knew that it was not his home that was in need of help, but it was his neighbors. That is when he decided that he had better get ready to go to the firehouse to battle this beast.
Jim quickly grabbed a pair of pearl izumi shorts and ran out of the house. The bad thing was he did not realize that he grabbed the wrong pairs when he was leaving the house. He quickly realized what he did though and decided to turn around before the guys at the station seen him in what he was wearing.
The tones started dropping not long after he t dropping telling the department about the fire he already knew about. He heard that it was his neighbor that called in the fire so he was thankful about that, but he was just worried now about the diamondback bikes that he used to keep in the garage and he hoped they were okay.
He hopped onto his mongoose mountain bike and pedaled as fast as he could. The station was a little over a mile down the road, but it would still take him about two to three minutes to reach it. Once he reached it though he knew that it was going to be a slim crew today because the engine was not even started yet.
As he turned into the station the door was already going up, but the truck was not running yet. He quickly fired up the engine and heard it roar to life. He knew that the rest of the crew was going to be coming in quickly, but if they were not their by the time he was ready they would take off.
They started talking about who would drive, but then they noticed the address and decided that Jim could have the nozzle since he knew the house. Thankfully he had been in the garage only the day before so he know not a whole lot would change over night.
As Jim took the nozzle into the garage he could see the dim glimmer of flames in the back corner. He headed in that direction and cracked the hose open onto the fire. The flames quickly went out and they walked out of the building knowing they had made one heck of a stop.
