Yellowstone and Yosemite are some of the most renowned and most known by outdoor lovers. Camping in Pennsylvania is not as well known as these other places. Pennsylvania, though not on the top of the list has other attractions that you should be aware of.

Most state parks are open seasonal. Pennsylvania has three state parks that are open year round. These parks include Little Pine, Promised Land, and Ole Bull. Since this location is in the upper northeast, these parks get a taste of all the different seasons.

At one particular park Promised Land has a 422 acre lake, which fishing is a common pastime. During the winter season ice fishing is also a big hit among visitors. That is not the only attraction during the long winter months. There are hundreds of trails open for cross county skiing. Twenty three miles of trail is also open for snowmobiles. Along with the trailers and RV you can take to the campsite log cabins are available.

Seasonal parks in Pennsylvania have other attractions. Among these seasonal state parks are Parker Dam, Shawnee, Prince Gallitzin, Champan, Gifford Pinchot, Pine Grove Furnace and the large Pymatuning. Tourist and avid campers alike flock to Pymatining State Park. It is one of the most visited parks in Pennsylvania. This maybe due to is vast size of 21, 122 acres and its reservoir that is over 17, 000 acres. Both being some of the biggest Pennsylvania state parks have to offer.

Before any camper voyages to their campsite, they must know the rules and regulations. Pennsylvania parks have textbook rules. These are rules such as no unauthorized fires, this is a for obvious reasons. No alcoholic beverages are allowed at the campsites or the state parks. This may be a bad thing for a few campers, though there are plenty of campsites outside of the state parks where having alcohol is legal. On the up side, the state parks allows pets on premise as long as it is a dog, cat or small caged animal.

Beware of leaving out food around the campsite. Pennsylvania has populations of black bears and coyotes. Hunting and game is another activity that can be done in the state park system. You will need the proper permits paper work and hunt during the right season. The most usual game include wild turkey, whitetail deer, grouse, and pheasant.

Hunting and game options offered on state parks if you have proper paperwork and its the right season. Game animals include grouse, whitetail deer, pheasant and wild turkey. Black bears and coyotes are native to the land. Be sure not to leave out any food around the campsites.

When going for an outdoor holiday, do take a camping toilet along. It may not give you the comfort of your daily washroom but can still make your holiday hassle-free.Here are some ideas to help you choose a good camping toilet.

Checking the odor of the human waste will be the most important factor to consider. You won’t even have free access to water so you will really need to consider the mechanics of the camping toilet you intend to buy. Then, you will also be lugging around plenty of camping gear so ensure that you buy a lightweight toilet. Most units come in separate backpacks.

Pick portable toilets that come with bags specially made for disposing human waste. Also, it’s much more convenient to have a camping toilet with its own privacy tent so that you can set it up behind your main tent. Do not buy waste bags or a camping toilet from a manufacturer without repute just because he is giving special discounts. Look at the overall quality of the unit before purchasing one.

The bags should be patented to be used for human waste removal. Always look for biodegradable environment-friendly disposable bags though. You can also put the toilet paper right in the bag itself for disposing.

When purchasing camping toilet units on the Internet ensure the usual security features of privacy. Look for guarantee offers and return policy features too. In fact, before you purchase a toilet unit, you can find out if your tent will be placed near the campground toilet or not. Trudging alone to a campsite toilet in the middle of the night may not be a good idea.

In case you are going for a home-made camping toilet, don’t forget to get cat litter and sawdust that is usually good to check the odor and purchase good quality human waste disposable bags.

I do most of my camping these days with North Texas Adventures which is not a hard core camping group. These days even those who appreciate their home comforts in life can enjoy camping. If you bring a pump up air mattress with sheets, a comforter, and pillows you’ll forget you’re not in your own bed at home! Given how large tents are these days even a queen size mattress does not need to take up the whole tent.

If you are at a campsite with electricity, consider bringing a fan to plug in which helps beat the heat in your tent. This comes in handy in the brutal Texas heat. For colder weather camping, bring some sleeping bags for added warmth.

With today’s amenities there is no need to “rough it” on a camping trip.Keep this in mind when you write your guest list. Even people that insist they don’t like to camp may enjoy modern day camping that can have much of the comforts of home.

Some of my best camping memories are sitting around the fire at night. This is a great time to relax and tell stories of your adventures from that day, like the time I ran over a rattlesnake on my mountain bike, and my buddy, to avoid the rattlesnake ran his bike straight into a cactus! Ouch!Meanwhile you can roast some marshmallows or enjoy a few cold beers.

Make sure to bring lots of firewood to burn, as there is nothing worse than having the fire burn out just as the party is getting started. Fires are so much fun that most campers will even enjoy them in warm weather.I remember waiting for the sun to go down after a 93 degree day so we could light a fire!
One of our favorite night time activities is a good game of Texas Hold’em poker, this is very popular in our DFW Outdoors Club

This can be great for beginners who sometimes are lucky enough to bring the pot home. This happened with my girlfriend and I was so embarrassed when she won and waved the money around in the air singing “I am the winner!” at the top of her lungs.Fortunately for all of us, her beginner’s luck soon came to an end and it was much quieter at the next game.

So make sure to bring some games or items for entertainment that appeal to your group. Some of the other items I bring for fun are a football, bean bag toss game, Frisbee, fishing poles, a bicycle and of course a deck of cards.

Don’t forget a flashlight. You may need it to find your way to your tent after a beginner takes your money at poker! Finally it is important to remember – Don’t mess with Texas! We take looking after the camp area seriously, what ever state you are in, as we do with our Dallas Fort Worth Hiking Club. Do a good deed and leave the camp site cleaner than you found it.Do a good walk through to make sure we minimize our foot print on our great state parks and camping area’s.We all appreciate you doing your part.

Thank you for reading this article and I hope these tips help you have a more successful and fun camping trip!

Are you currently interested in going on a camping adventure? If that’s the case, have you already determined where you want to go camping? If you have still to select a campground park to camp at, you probably want to consider doing so quickly. In the summer months, camping is a well-known activity; therefore, you will want to make sure that you are able to get a camping reservation on the campground park of your choice.

Another one from the many reasons why you may want to think about making your hiking reservations in advance is because numerous campground parks allow their guests to handpick which camping spots they want. Needless to say, not all campground parks permit you to do this, but you will find that a significant quantity of them do. In terms of obtaining a good camping spot or a campsite, you can find that the earlier you make your reservations, the more campsites you’ve to select from.

Speaking of choosing a camping place, which can be also commonly referred to as a campsite, you may be wondering what you should look for in one. In all honesty, the “perfect,” campsite is likely to differ from person to individual. It actually depends in your wants and requirements, as well as the likes and wants of individuals in your camping group. Although there might be some variations of what you are searching for, you may want to consider a few of the elements pointed out below into consideration, when choosing the perfect campsite.

One of the first things that you’ll want to do is examine who you’re going camping with. If you are going camping with children, namely small children, you probably want to consider being sure that your camping website is a good distance away from any bodies of water or any dangerous hiking trails.

In addition to the safety of those that you’ll be camping with, preferences are also something that should be taken into consideration, when choosing a camping spot or a campsite. If you are a water lover and would regularly prefer to invest your time boating, fishing or swimming, you probably want to consider obtaining a hiking place that is close to the water. On another hand, if you’d prefer to spend your time hiking, you may want to try and obtain a camping spot that is located near the campground’s hiking trail, and so forth. If you do wish to go on a hiking trail, you may need some decent boots, a few of the presently popular boots include the Vasque Breeze gtx, the Asolo Stynger as well as the men’s Merrell Radius Mid waterproof.

The above mentioned factors are just a couple of of the many factors that you may want to take into consideration, when selecting a camping place for your next hiking adventure. As a reminder, not all campground parks allow you to choose your own camping sites, but a significant quantity of them do.

The next time you go camping in PA (Pennsylvania) there are some things you should consider. When you think of camping and the outdoors most think of Yosemite Yellowstone and large famous parks. Pennsylvania, though not on the top of the list has other attractions that you should be aware of.

Most campers go out for the campsites in the spring and summer. This is due to the seasonal campgrounds. Pennsylvania has three state parks that are year round ventures. These parks are Little Pine, Ole bull, and Promised Land. The cold might be a factor for some campers. The state is located in the upper northeast and winters see snowfall and cold temperatures. This can be remedy by the cabins available at the campsites.

There are some rules and regulations, just like at any state park for camping. The rules are mostly simple, things like no fires outside of the fire holes and grills. Meaning no open flames in a very flammable environment. You are allowed to bring pets, such as dogs, cats and small caged animals. On the state park’s land and campgrounds there will be no alcohol allowed. There are several local campsites that are not on state land that allow the possession and consumption of alcohol.

If hunting isn’t on the menu, but observing wildlife is you can visit an elk range. Elk are larger then deer and males can weigh up to a thousand pounds. You can drop by one of the ranges near your campsite.

I do most of my camping these days with North Texas Adventures which is not a hard core camping group. These days even those who appreciate their home comforts in life can enjoy camping. If you bring an inflatable air mattress with sheets, a comforter, and pillows you’ll forget you’re not in your own bed at home! Given how large tents are these days even a queen size mattress does not need to take up the whole tent.

If you are at a campsite with electricity, consider bringing a fan to plug in which helps beat the heat in your tent. This comes in handy in the brutal Texas heat. For colder weather camping, bring some good sleeping bags for added warmth.

Fires are so much fun that most campers will even enjoy them in warm weather. I remember waiting for the sun to go down after a 92 degree day so we could light a fire!
One of our favorite night time activities is a good game of Texas Hold’em poker, this is very popular in our DFW Outdoors Club

This can be great for beginners who sometimes are lucky enough to bring the pot home. This happened with my girlfriend and I was so embarrassed when she won and waved the cash around in the air singing “I am the winner!” at the top of her big lungs. Fortunately for all of us, her beginner’s luck soon ran out and it was much quieter at the next game.

So make sure to bring some games or items for entertainment that appeal to your group. Some of the other items I bring for fun are a football, bean bag toss game, Frisbee, fishing poles, a bicycle and of course a deck of cards.

Don’t forget a lanten. You may need it to find your way to the tent after a beginner takes your money at poker! Finally it is important to remember, Don’t mess with Texas! We take looking after the camp area seriously, what ever state you are in, as we do with our Dallas Fort Worth Hiking Club. Do a good deed and leave the campsite cleaner than you found it. Do a good walk through to make sure we minimize our footprint on our great state parks and camping area’s.We all appreciate you doing your part.

Thank you for reading this article and I hope these tips help you make a more successful and fun camping trip!

When going for an outdoor holiday, do take a camping toilet along. It may not give you the comfort of your daily washroom but can still make your holiday hassle-free. Here are some tips for buying a good camping toilet.

Always go for a unit that can be easily folded up and carried separately in a backpack with your other camping gear. It should be compact enough to not be a burden, not require use of water which is not freely available at campsites and of course be odor free.

Usually waste disposable bags are patented. Always buy bags that are environment-friendly and biodegradable. A special powder is used with the bags to check the odor. Some bags are big enough to be used at least three times but they are cheap enough to be disposed off after one use only. The toilet paper can also be disposed off inside the bag too.

In case you do not wish to carry a camping toilet you can request a spot in the camping ground nearer to the washroom. However, this is not always possible so before you buy a camping toilet unit, particularly on the Internet, do check the manufacturer’s reputation. Many sites offer great combo deals too. A camping toilet is of great use during an emergency need in the night when trudging off alone to the main campground toilet is not very safe.

In case you are going for a home-made camping toilet, don’t forget to get cat litter and sawdust that is usually good to check the odor and purchase good quality human waste disposable bags.
